Tread Construction and Repair Workshop

Registration is closed for this event
Join this workshop hosted by the Taconic Trail Crew to learn all about how to use simple hand tools to construct sustainable trail tread, and keep it in good shape for the long haul!

Join the Taconic Trail Crew on this Tread Construction and Repair Workshop!

Our main goal with tread construction is to create a trail surface that keeps water off the trail and people on it resulting in sustainable trail systems.

This course helps you gain or brush up on techniques to construct a sustainable trail and perform tread maintenance to keep the trail in good shape. These techniques include sidehill trail construction, utilizing sustainable grades, and implementing/restoring natural drainage features to shed water off the trail.

For this project you'll be joining the Taconic Trail Crew in Hudson Highlands State Park and learning these skills as part of a series of re-routes on the Wilkinson Memorial Trail.
